Change is a part of life. It's been an interesting two weeks starting at a new venue, the most important change recently. I am learning at such an old age that change will always happen. You never know that it can happen, when the calling will be. I didn't expect to be leaving the Old Country Store, but if an opportunity arises to learn a new skill or build upon effective leadership competencies, I must take up the challenge and the opportunity.
- Be positive, and upbeat and willing to inspire. No one wants to work with someone who is negative and have no energy. And I will continue to have energy.
- Work at being a servant leader. The leaders need to assist the front line team members who are directly interacting with the guests.
- Be open-minded. Don't bring any ideas about procedures and processes to the new venue. It will not help you. However, bring all the leadership skills that you have to the table. You'll need it!
I still have less than three more months in my training. I look forward to everything that I am learning, getting to know a whole new culture, system and procedures. It is an exciting period. I noticed that the technology is exactly as I like. I have taking one day at a time. It is my plan that this would be the last company that I set myself in working for an extended time. This learning new system is really getting old. But at least I'm up to this challenge for Company #10 one last time.
