Today a year ago, my
Sunshine and I were feverishly packing all we could in our Memphis apartment trying
to get everything in boxes to load on a U-Haul, leaving at 2:30pm (CST) in the
afternoon, to make a trip to our present hometown, arriving before midnight
(EST). It was a fast paced event that
was going to happen in less than a day.
It was the last minute load into a 17-foot U-Haul , driving hundreds of
miles, and unloading the truck in what was to be two times over a few hours in
our new place, once when we arrived, the next early the next morning, since it was rather late.
After the move I expected an
interesting change in my job site with different people and a different
culture. When I arrived everyone was “glad”
and said I should be happy to leave Memphis because of the city. Let me say, however, that there is nothing
wrong with the city. There are great and
people who have hard-working and honest values in the city, as a whole. I can think of many of them right now. Don’t ever consider that there are only “bad”
and selfish people in that city. I met
some strong believers in Christ in the Bluff city, and other team members that have a
good heart. I hope that I’ll keep in
contact with them for a long time, but that is not something that I can control
totally. I can only reach out, share my
life, and let them respond if they desire.
